Welcome to our collection of resources and apps to learn and teach Portuguese online!

We have lots of resources and apps available for learning Portuguese. Our Portuguese apps and resources range from very simple apps (such as the "Alphabetize" or "Word Count" apps) to amazing worksheet or wordsearch generators which are all completely customizable and printable. Most of these resources can be used by students or teacher but we do have some resources that will be useful for native or fluent Portuguese speakers (for example the "Convert Portuguese to Unicode"). All of these apps and resources will work with most modern browsers and are super user friendly. 

Please note that whilst grammar and conjugations etc remain the same, there are small differences in spelling and certain vocabulary between Brazilian Portuguese and European Portuguese. Where these differences do occur, these resources use Brazilian Portuguese. However, you can still use these resources to learn European Portuguese.

The apps are divided into two main categories: Teaching Portuguese, which are free resources to teach different skills in Portuguese, as well as a wide range of ability levels; and Using Portuguese Online, which will help Portuguese speakers use Portuguese online, as well as help beginners looking to learn Portuguese.

Teaching Portuguese

These free resources are perfect for Portuguese teachers, with lots of options and resources to choose from and include free Portuguese worksheets and printables. Different resources are designed to test knowledge of Portuguese vocabulary as well as Portuguese grammar and numbers. There are many ways that you can customize the worksheets to make sure that they fit the needs of your Portuguese lessons. These worksheet creators are intended to save you time and also allow you to easily personalize the output, ready for printing. Our worksheet generators are free-to-use and much quicker than creating your own worksheets in apps like Microsoft Word. The majority offer a "with answers" and "without" so you can set the number of copies for each option, as your students require.

Portuguese Word Search Creator Create a fun homework or end of lesson task with these wordsearches. Choose the vocabulary you want your student to find and this generator with fill the wordsearch with random letters. You can customize the font and grid size and even print off an answer key.

Portuguese Sentence Fill In The Gap Create worksheets to find out whether Portuguese learners know the answers that should go in the spaces. You enter the text and then select every word that you want to be an answer. These words will then appear in a separate box for students to select. For example "Eu ____ dono de um gato. Eles ____ gatos marrons. Meu gato preferido ____ o Percy. (sou, são, é)".

Portuguese Sentences Create Blank Spaces This worksheet allows teachers to create blank spaces in Portuguese texts and sentences for students to fill in with their own answers. Select the word you want to leave blank and that word will appear in brackets at the end of the sentence, for example "Gosto de praticar ______ (esportes)". This resource is very versatile as there are no fixed answers.

Portuguese Words Scramble This is a great resource for testing a learner's vocabulary and spelling. Enter your words and each individual word will be scrambled. Sentences will remain in the same order but students must unscramble the word and provide the correct spelling.

Jumble Up Portuguese Sentences Simple Portuguese sentences follow the same SVO (subject, verb, object) structure as English. However, because verbs are conjugated depending on the subject, the pronoun can be dropped so it's important to know which words go where in a sentence. Write out your sentences and the worksheet generator will move the words around randomly. You can choose to keep your text in Sentence Case (capital after a full stop), so for example "de, beber, gosto, café, Eu" or entirely lowercase "de, beber, gosto, café, eu".

Create Portuguese Number Bingo Sheets Enter numbers of your choice to create bingo sheets for Portuguese word numbers that will make learning Portuguese word numbers fun. This is a great worksheet to test learners knowledge of Portuguese numbers. This app will also help if you want to look-up Portuguese words, or find a word in a text a student is not familiar with. Formatting will remain the same where possible (e.g. ã and a).

Portuguese Font As Image This app with create an image for you to use on social media or as a web signature in Portuguese text. There are countless options to play with, with customizable color, font and size.

Change Portuguese Text Orientation This converter adjusts the orientation of your text. You can choose from left to right as well as top to bottom (up and down), and starting either left to right or right to left.

Count Portuguese Characters And Words This is a perfect app for any Portuguese writers, students or anyone who wants to know the stats of their text. This app counts the words and letters in your text.

Convert Portuguese Text into Uppercase, Lowercase, and Sentence Case Use this resource to convert any text in to UPPER CASE, lower case, Or Sentence Case, etc.

Convert Portuguese TXT Files From Uppercase To Lowercase Convert the contents of any Portuguese .TXT file into UPPER CASE, lower case, Or Sentence Case, etc.

Convert Portuguese Text Into Unicode Enter your Portuguese text and this converter will convert it to Unicode. Unicode is primarily used online as a way of making sure that the characters display correctly. This will allow accents such as é, ã and ç to be expressed online regardless of whether or not a browser has a Portuguese keyboard or Portuguese characters installed. . You can also use this resource to convert Unicode to Portuguese text.

Our collection of resources for learning Portuguese online is being updated all the time. Check back often to see what new resources are available! Currently, we have no specific converters or resources for Portuguese pronunciation or Portuguese speaking, but we are hopeful to add them soon.

Portuguese is a great language to learn, but as with all languages, it has some challenges. For example, pronouns are often dropped in European Portuguese and conjugations are used to indicate pronouns. There are also characters and sounds that are relatively unique to Portuguese that learners may not recognise such as "-ão" or "-lhõ" which will take time to master. Fortunately, Portuguese uses the same SVO sentence structure as English (although subject is often implied by the conjugation).

There are also minor vocabulary and pronunciation differences between European Portuguese and Brazilian Portuguese, although fluency in one form of Portuguese will make you understood in the other. Please note that where there are any differences, these resources use Brazilian Portuguese.

All of these resources are free to use and customizable depending on a learner's level and ability. These resources are easy-to-use and are compatible with all modern browsers. You can really make these Portuguese language resources your own.
